QUESTION: 

I don't have a sewing machine.

 

RESPONSE: Borrow from a friend or buy something inexpensive even a previously owned.   You don't need anything fancy just need to be able to sew a straight stitch.

Does quilt have to have a particular theme? 

 

RESPONSE:

No, gather and use the t-shirts of your liking.​

What does this cost?

 

RESPONSE:  This instructional series is complimentary.  However, all your materials and supplies will be approximately $75 - $150 depending on what is borrowed, purchased new, on sale, etc.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

How Many T-Shirts Do I Need?
12 T-shirt panels - approximately 9 - 12 T-shirts,

depending on whether there’s a design on

the front and back of the t-shirt.  Each t-shirt

can make two 12.5 x 12.5 quilt square panels.

One from the front and one from the back.

What types of supplies do I need to purchase?

  • Spool of 100% cotton piecing thread 50                            weight neutral color

  • 45mm Rotary Cutter

  • Package of Straight Pins

  • 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 square ruler (12 x 12 finished

  • square)

  • Cutting mat that is at least 16 X 22 in

  • Access to a sewing machine

  • Pair of fabric scissors

 

What materials / fabrics do I need to purchase?

  3 -4 four coordinating fabrics:  

  • Outer border - 2 1/2 yards - this can be a                              large design/pattern

  • Sashing - 1 1/2 yards - this can be a medium                                to small design/pattern

  • Cornerstone - 1/2 yards - this should be a                                small print or solid. this will give your quilt a

  • Pop" of color for the border - 1 yard  - this should                         be a small print or solid that helps transition the eye from

  •  the sashing fabric to the outer border.  

  • Optional :you can buy more of the cornerstone fabric and have it serve as your inner border.

  • Fusable Stabilizer 6-7 yards Pellon PF911              featherweight white or black
